Val d'Orcia with a rented lambretta |
that's on top of my wish list: to be able to travel with a lambretta anywhere we want. yes, we can drive our own or ship it, but we don't aways have the time to do something like that (not to mention the costs). and to rent an original vintage scooter is almost impossible. almost.
visiting Tuscany on a vintage Italian scooter
Vintage Tours is located in Montepulciano, perfect location to explore the tuscan charming countryside on a vintage ride, with no lacking of hilly roads or poetic landscapes, as well as fine wines and delicious food.
Le Stringaie is a family run agriturismo/farm house located a few kilometers from Montepulciano old town |
among the several old&new scooters that you can choose from at Vintage Tours, we obviously picked one of the two lambrettas available. it was a white and grey second series Li 125, same model as our girl.
the rental fee, which is 90 euro per day for a vintage vespa or lambretta 125/150, includes helmets (we brought our own), bandanas, a map, a lock and a backpack. 2 walkie talkie, selfie sticks, a picnic kit (I love this idea!), gloves, a camera and a go pro are also available to rent, in order to enjoy your happy ride day even more.

be prepared to eat elbow to elbow with the other guests, order a bottle of the local red and a massive Fiorentina steak, that the innkeeper would probably sketch on your paper tablecloth when you order it. I still have dreams about that Fiorentina. good, mouthwatering dreams.

our tour was pretty classic, 70 kilometers long, and we had the right amount of time to visit a few small towns in Val d'Orcia with no rush.
if you have more time, or want to have a wider variety of choices, we recommend also a visit to:
- Sant'Antimo abbey
- Bagni San Filippo
- Montalcino

airbnb
as I've said many times before, we love airbnb and we usually try to discover new places and beautiful homes when we travel.
on the last day of our tuscan weekend, we stayed at Antonella and Massimo's tower house, which is also his sculpture atelier.
ah so much beauty to see....
