Lyon #3 city cycling

our last day in Lyon was devoted to explore the Rive Gauche, beyond the left bank of the Rhone. since we already knew how to orient ourselves in the city, we rent a bike to wander around. from the day our arrive we were aware that Lyon is a real bike friendly town, with handy bicycle paths and a developed bike culture that makes cycling there safer than in other part of the world (e.g. Italy).

hiring a bike in Lyon is super simple and cheap. the company vélo’v has 340 bike stations around the city, where you can simply register at the terminal with your credit card/bancomat (international cards accepted), take one of the red and silver bicycles available, use it, and then return it to any other station. i had seen hiring bike services before, but they were not so widespread and registering was never so quick and easy. chapeau!

the peak of our tour in the Rive Gauche was visiting the Parc de la Tète d’Or, biggest urban park in France {it is 117 hectares wide}, with a pond, a botanical garden and a rose garden. i was happy to see how lively it was, full of families with children and dogs, runners, cyclists, and couples strolling around in the vivid autumn colors.

this is the last post about Lyon, for now. i hope to visit again in the future!

E' bello quando si ha il tempo di "vivere" la città!

    1. anche in una visita breve, come un weekend, se non si cerca di "vivere" la città tanto valeva rimanere a casa :)
