Sicilan colour palette

Noto | Sicilian baroque colour palette

in Sicily, it was the first time i kept an illustrated travel journal updated while we were on the road. the drawings and the coloring of the ones i did before, were made after coming back home.

i am a morning person. marco and i wake up every morning around 6. while travelling, we usually linger in bed a little bit more. this time, i didn't. i loved the cool air of the morning (around 7.30 it was hot already). i made my coffee thinking about the route we took the day before, about what we saw and tasted, about the colors, that remained impressed on my mind as they were on the film roll of my nikon. and i drew.

the most amusing thing, travelling with my little box of 12 half godet, was trying to recreate the colours i saw.
some shades were tied to a particular stage of the journey, other ones were recurring. like a colour palette about Sicily. that's how i thought about this post.

are you familiar with seeds colour palettes? design seeds is a truly wonderful website about colours. they feature a picture and match it with the corresponding pantone.

so, i tried to do the same thing with watercolors and a small selection of photographs whose colours remind me more about our Sicilian road trip. this way i got our personal Sicily colour palette!

♥ hope you like it

  4. Wow, this is some really stellar stuff. So beautiful. I have always admired watercolor painters. Those who have that skill, like my grandmother, seem like sweet and peaceful people. These are beautiful sights. Thanks for sharing!
